Slam Eazzy announces his return, bringing to his fans a new comic heartfelt “afrotrap/afrotrapsoul“ sound with his long awaited first official EP, The Philogynist. The forthcoming EP is a follow up to his 2020 Jabulile single and is set to drop on July 2, 2021.
Slam recorded the EP in a bedroom studio “7thWave Recordings” in Tembisa, Gauteng which is where he met the likes of Bigstar Johnson who is also featured on the EP. With the help of engineer Shakespear Nkosi, Slam worked with three different producers namely IX CiGt, JooniarXKhemmet and Zolile_3k to compose these songs.
The Philogynist is composed of 3 tracks, Cela Nimkhuze, Don’t Play Remix and Go which all tell a story of a man who admires women very much, but finds that the feeling is not mutual. With this EP Slam Eazzy creates a character that spends a lot of time trying to fix a relationship with a girl by seeking help from friends and family to try and talk some sense into her and when that fails, he then convinces himself to let her go. The songs Cela Nimkhuze and the Don’t Play Remix is where he tries to mend the relationship and make it work, and then on Go the guy decides to finally listen to voices in his head telling him to let her go or dump her.
On the three songs, Slam Eazzy, the Orange Farm born and bred boy has collaborated with the likes of Benlay, Leverage, King Sweetkid and the Sgubu hitmaker Bigstar Johnson to create this well-structured love story. The Philogynist is a word used to describe someone who truly admires and respects women, and through these songs Slam Eazzy demonstrates this role perfectly.
