Dlala Mlungu

From the young age of 12, Dlala Mlungu knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Being in the studio or behind the decks just came naturally for him. Everyday when he came back from school, he left his homework and went straight to the laptop connecting it to his home theatre system hoping he would hear his mom drive in so that he could pretend he was doing homework.

The Rusternberg born DJ moved around a lot as a kid from but made his way to city of gold with ambition in his eyes. By the time he was 14, he was doing house parties and corporate events. At 15 he started getting involved in the club and festival scene. he started to draw an interest in south african music soon after. His role models are the likes of black coffee, dj Kent and Kabza the small.

A big break through point in his career was his first major gig at the under 18 festival “wonderland’ where he got a taste of big crowds.

At 19 the young but experienced dj/producer started doing gigs all over soweto and JHB city. This is where he learnt more about the Amapiano movement. He couldn’t wait to get involved with it and soon after started incorporating the genre into his live shows.

Soon after, Dlala Mlungu got back into the studio to start messing around with the Amapiano sound in the hopes to master the craft. Now with the likes of the music industry taking a closer listen, there is even more on the horizon – and we mean on a global scale.

He’s worked with the likes of Dzo 729, Tman Xpress, Major League and Jorja Smith.
