MAYABA
SOUTH AFRICA

I’m goal driven, ambitious and I have tons of aspirations that I’d like to live up to. I’m passionate about a lot of things that I’ve accomplished so far. Most people who know me would say I’m a very humble and down to earth guy. My favourite artwork has to be my photomanipulation picture because it reminds of how far I’ve come in graphic designing. My second favourite art has to be my sisters cartoon and thirdly all my S.P.A.C.E Apparel Designs they are just amazing seeing people wear my apparel is mind blowing and keeps me moving forward. I’ve had challenges throughout my journey as nobody took me serious but now people respect me and my time despite making money. I love what I do and I want to remembered for that.

SHAPOWD
SOUTH AFRICA

I use pen as my main medium as it’s the medium in which I find myself in I can tinker, get lost and apply detail for hours and hours. how the ink smells and how the ball of the pen interacts with the surface of the paper is something which I can feel inside. Each drawing is it’s own unique thing and for that reason the drawing is done when the drawings is done.
I’m always thinking about how the piece can be better or even trying to think about how I can do something to the drawing which I haven’t thought about.
this makes my processes very intuition based and unfortunately very slow but the upside is something I’m proud to share, something I know deep down is special not only to me but to who I share the piece with too.
I Draw and Paint when I can. With that in mind I try to stream whenever I am drawing and painting to share the process with online viewers and to have a chat during with those who view me . As an artist who is not yet making a full living off my art it is hard to work on my art when I’d idealisticly would want to and could as I find ways to fill in the economic portion of my life with delivery jobs and previous service industry related jobs.
Life often has it’s way with my time which takes my attention elsewhere. Which I suppose to a point allows me the time to step back from all the drawings I do to find the most incomplete but fresher eyes on old drawing brings me back from the initial artists block which had me stop working on them in the first place. which has been pleasantly weird and brought me to this relationship I have with long time format drawings.
My artist name is something which I hold dear to me as it’s a symbol of the ideation and creation my childhood held where I were to name things or find myself in the space of creating things which I did not know of or understand or if I thought that thing was ‘cool’… to “Me”. It’s that thing which you can’t explain which makes you you is the thing I cling to in my art.
And if there is any advice I can give to anyone who’s out there looking to make or do something unique it would be to be curious and to learn and to grow from the things you are curious about. Seek these curiosities out and cherish them.

MAD LION
SOUTH AFRICA

Since its my birthday I just thought I’d tell you a bit about myself as an Artist. I am Mad Lion. Mad Lion is not a name that symbolizes my physical appearance, but it stands for who I am. Mad is what I am, my personality, my urge to always go to abnormal levels especially with my art. Lion conveys the pride that I take with my art.
I started doing art when I was young, I don’t remember when exactly but i was still a kid, learning how to draw, I’ve always had a love for art hence I taught myself how to draw. Years later in High school I decided to venture into digital art and as a result I started on my phone with Picsart. Picsart app limited my digital art creation so soon after I started using Photoshop. I started Graphic Design in 2015, I practiced a lot, all I did was edit images, images of me and my friends until it grew on me. It was after 2years of practice until I started doing it as a business. I loved what i was doing so I didn’t really put much thought into making money out of it, my number 1 goal was improving always has been. So in 2021, I decided to go to 3D, I’m still learning and the learning curve is steep, but I am finally getting used to it. I mainly use Blender for all my 3D works .
My number one inspiration would be my brother “Mesheck Saikonde”. He’s the one who introduced me to the world of art and he’s always been great at it. My other inspirations would be Artists that i find online like Billelis, Laura H. Rubin, Baren Sarper, Ian Hubert, etc.
The motivation I would give to people who want to do art is, it’s really never too late, it doesn’t matter what age you are, as long as you are able to do it, just do it. Don’t let peer pressure or laziness ruin what you love. The learning curve is difficult but that’s the good part because after all the hardships comes greatness.
