AMPD Studios, a vital heartbeat in South Africa’s creative and music landscape, is facing a critical moment — and the countdown has begun.
With just under 16 days left, AMPD is calling on all those who have ever been inspired by its energy, participated in its masterclasses, recorded in its studios, or simply believed in the power of what it stands for, to help keep the doors open.
In a message to the public, the AMPD team shared:
“We’re going through a tough moment, and we need your help to keep AMPD alive. If you’ve ever learned, collaborated, or dreamed within these walls, now’s the time to give back.”
The studio has launched a fundraising campaign on BackaBuddy, urging supporters to donate whatever feels fair. Contributions of any size will go toward securing operational costs and ensuring that the space remains open to nurture the next generation of creators, artists, and innovators.
“We’ve had an outpouring of love,” the team notes, “but we still urgently need access to capital. If you haven’t tapped your rich uncle or your favorite minister yet… now’s a good time.”
This isn’t just about saving a space — it’s about preserving a legacy. AMPD Studios has become a home for aspiring talent and cultural conversations, hosting legends and future stars alike. It’s a sanctuary for creativity in a country rich with artistic expression but often short on resources.
Now, the community that’s been built within those walls is being asked to rise together once more.
Let’s save AMPD — together.
