This Heritage Month, one of South Africa’s most revered voices, Zonke Dikana, invites the nation to celebrate a defining chapter in her illustrious career, the 10th anniversary of her critically acclaimed album, Work of Heart.
Released in 2015, Work of Heart is a timeless body of work that cemented Zonke as a powerhouse in Soul, R&B, and Jazz. With unforgettable tracks like Reach It, Great Storm, and S.O.S (Release Me), the project resonated deeply with audiences, striking a delicate balance between vulnerability, artistry, and the storytelling power of music. Critics hailed it as a “masterpiece,” and a decade later, it remains one of the most celebrated works in modern South African music.
Heritage Month is about preserving memory and honouring identity, values that are woven into the DNA of Work of Heart. Zonke’s voice, at once delicate and commanding, echoes the resilience and creativity of South Africa’s cultural spirit. As she reflects on this milestone, she continues to remind us how music serves as a bridge between past and present, between personal experience and collective heritage.
To mark the occasion, Zonke will host an exclusive Work of Heart vinyl signing session in collaboration with Mr Vinyl at 44 Stanley, Johannesburg, on Saturday, 11 October at 14h00. Fans will not only get to revisit the music that shaped a decade but also celebrate Zonke’s birthday alongside her, a rare, intimate moment between artist and audience.
The celebration extends online with the hashtag #WorkOfHeart10, where fans are encouraged to share their favourite songs, stories, and moments tied to the album.
