Venda Football Academy (Venda FC) have confirmed the appointment of Clinton Larsen as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship season. The former Magesi FC mentor brings a wealth of experience to the Limpopo-based outfit and will work alongside Solly Luvhengo, who remains a vital part of the club’s technical team.
Clinton Larsen is no stranger to South African football fans. A former midfielder turned coach, he has managed several PSL and NFD clubs over the years, including:
- Bloemfontein Celtic
- Golden Arrows
- Polokwane City
- Chippa United
- Magesi FC

At Magesi FC, Larsen played a key role in stabilizing the team’s form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Although he left the club at the end of the 2024/25 season, his tactical knowledge and man-management skills remain highly respected.
Venda FC’s decision to pair Larsen with Solly Luvhengo is being seen as a strategic move. Luvhengo, a former South Africa U-20 national team coach, has been involved in Venda FC’s technical structure for several seasons. He is expected to continue contributing in a senior technical role, likely as an assistant coach or technical director.
Together, the duo offers a balance of experience, youth development focus, and regional insight—key ingredients for a club aiming to rise from mid-table status to promotion contention.
Clinton Larsen’s return to the dugout adds another layer of intrigue to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. His collaboration with Solly Luvhengo could prove a smart combination of tactical discipline and developmental insight. For Venda FC, this appointment represents more than just a coaching change—it’s a bold declaration of intent.
All eyes will now be on the preseason preparations as the club looks to strengthen its squad and push toward the top flight.
