Renowned DJ and producer Ezra Mlotshwa has revealed the striking cover art for his highly anticipated debut album, Bayede, set to drop on October 25, 2024. This release marks a milestone in Mlotshwa’s career, blending Afro-house and house music with his signature flair for diverse sonic elements.
The album’s cover presents Mlotshwa in a poised, stylish black and brown ensemble—a visual metaphor for the harmony and balance in his music. The warm black provides a grounding contrast to the rich, earthy brown, hinting at the deep, textured layers that await listeners on Bayede.
In the lead-up to this release, Mlotshwa offered fans a taste of what’s to come with his latest single, “Impi Ye Mpilo,” featuring acclaimed artists Nkosazana Daughter, Disciples of House and Kabza De Small. The track, a thrilling fusion of voices and rhythms, exemplifies Mlotshwa’s gift for weaving together distinct styles to create something truly compelling.
Bayede, a Zulu term meaning “Hail the King,” carries historical significance as the royal salutation for King Shaka Zulu. For Mlotshwa, the title reflects both a tribute to his heritage and his ambitions in the house music realm. The album’s name also holds personal meaning, as Bayede is his second name, further embedding his identity in the project.
“This is a musical ensemble that I’ve built with people I admire and respect,” Mlotshwa shared. “Ideas that have been swirling in my mind are finally coming to life. I hope you feel the energy, dance to the beats, and let the music inspire you.”
Bayede features a dynamic lineup of collaborators, including SoulFreakah, Marley Girl, Artwork Sounds, MaWhoo, Halo Yagami, Griffith Malo, Njelic, Thakzin, C-Black, Chronical Deep, Darque, Jnr SA, Umthakathi Kush, Sbani the Vocalist, and D.O.H. With this album, Mlotshwa is not just presenting a collection of tracks—he’s curating an experience of rhythm, culture, and collaboration that reflects his growth as an artist and visionary.
As the countdown to Bayede begins, Mlotshwa stands ready to make his mark on the house music landscape. Fans can pre-save the album HERE.
This album promises to be a defining moment, showcasing Mlotshwa’s commitment to pushing boundaries while staying rooted in his musical journey.
