Zimbabwean recording artist and songwriter Kingsley has officially has signed a music publishing deal with Gallo Music Publishers, one of the continent’s most established and longest-running independent publishing companies. The agreement marks a defining milestone in Kingsley’s career, not just as a performer, but as a songwriter, producer, and music entrepreneur building for longevity.
Structured to support long-term catalogue growth, the partnership positions Kingsley’s body of work for both regional and international expansion. More significantly, it formalises the launch of Kountry Klub Publishing as an official division of Kountry Klub Records — signalling that Kingsley’s ambitions extend well beyond the mic.
For Kingsley, this move represents a goal years in the making.
“It is a tremendous privilege to continuously achieve the goals I set for myself at 16 — to be more than just an artist, and to strive to be the best in both artistry and business. Rob C. clearly understood my vision and sensemaking of an independent artist’s career. I have a five-year relationship with the Music Arena building so this is a good opportunity to expand into the publishing world with services from Africa’s longest running independent company, Gallo.”
With a growing repertoire and increasing visibility across the Southern African music landscape, the deal provides critical publishing infrastructure, from rights management and song registration to royalty tracking and international administration. It ensures that Kingsley’s existing and future works are protected, monetised efficiently, and strategically positioned for synchronization placements, cross-border collaborations, and expanded royalty collection.
With decades of industry expertise and a multi-genre catalogue spanning territories across Africa and beyond, Gallo Music Publishers remains a key player in the rights management ecosystem.
Rob Cowling, Head of Publishing at Gallo, explains how the partnership came together following the release of Kingsley’s hip-hop fusion album Kountry Klub King through their Music Arena distribution partners CCA.
After observing the momentum around the album and the streaming, social media and radio traction of the single “Are You That Somebody” featuring Usmokolo, Gallo recognised not only Kingsley’s performance potential, but his strength as a songwriter and producer.
Cowling notes that many rising creators struggle to balance creative freedom with the administrative demands of rights registration, income tracking, and navigating collection societies. With streaming, radio play, live performances, and public consumption all contributing to a song’s value chain, the role of a publisher becomes essential.
“We are proud and delighted to sign this deal with Kingsley and to supply our services as a music publisher to further amplify his songwriting talents and work. Welcome to the Klub!”
Alongside the publishing announcement, Kingsley has released the official visualizer for “Show You The World”, a standout track from Kountry Klub King.
The visual experience brings the song’s heartfelt message to life, inviting listeners into a world shaped by love, ambition, and optimism. Romantic yet aspirational, the track serves as both a personal promise and a broader artistic statement, reinforcing Kingsley’s ability to blend emotional depth with commercial appeal.
This publishing deal signals Kingsley’s transition from emerging talent to structured brand builder, aligning artistry with business acumen. By establishing Kountry Klub Publishing and partnering with a legacy institution like Gallo, he strengthens his position within the African music economy while opening pathways into global markets.
