Monique Bingham & Black Coffee’s “Deep In The Bottom (Of Africa)” Gets a Decade-Defining Remix Makeover

A decade after it first shook the world’s dancefloors, Monique Bingham and Black Coffee’s iconic house anthem “Deep In The Bottom (Of Africa)” is getting a fresh wave of life. The two house music legends are marking the track’s 10-year anniversary with a Remix EP that’s as forward-thinking as it is nostalgic, a celebration of legacy, rhythm, and South Africa’s unstoppable influence on global dance music.

“It’s wild to think it’s already been a decade,” Monique reflects. “And even wilder to see how this track has touched the world. To celebrate, I called on some of the most innovative DJ/producers from South Africa to put their own magic on our classic.”

And what a lineup it is. From Amapiano to Afro Tech, 3Step to Deep House, The Remixes Pt. 1 bridges sounds, eras, and generations.

Leading the charge is Jazzworx, who puts a soulful, melodic 3Step twist on the original, a perfect gateway between the golden age of house and today’s evolving South African club scene. But Monique doesn’t stop there. In a powerful nod to representation, she taps two trailblazing women redefining the game:

  • DBN Gogo, the reigning queen of Amapiano, brings her signature “private school” style — sophisticated, hypnotic, and destined to dominate high-end playlists and rooftop sessions.
  • Thandi Draai, a powerhouse in Afro House and Afro Tech, flips the track into a festival-ready anthem, charged with deep energy and Afro-futurist flair.

The celebration continues with Sir LSG, who lays down a lush, soulful deep house rework, pure gold for the true house heads. Citizen Deep turns up the heat with a groove-heavy Afro House and 3Step fusion, while 2wo Bunnies close things off with a gritty, streetwise “strata” Amapiano remix made for those late-night, underground dance moments.

Each remix honors the spirit of the original while introducing a new sonic identity.

Working with this incredible talent has been a joy,” says Monique. “It’s not just about honoring what Coffee and I created, but bringing that same fire to today’s dancefloors and introducing a whole new generation to our music.”

With this remix collection, Bingham and Coffee aren’t just revisiting the past, they’re reshaping the present and inspiring the future.
