On the 8th of July, we witnessed the beginning of IDOLS SA Season 19, where aspiring singers attended auditions alongside judges JR Bogopa, Thembi Seete, and Somizi Mhlongo.
Throughout the season, we connected with many singers and journeyed with them on the crazy emotional rollercoaster. But, at the end of the day, this is a competition, and there can only be one winner.
The final show allowed us to witness performances from Cassper Nyovest, Vusi Nova, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, and a very special collaboration with PJ Morton and the final two, Princess and Thabo M Ndlovu.
An especially touching highlight of the finale was when Yvonne Chaka Chaka surprised Princess with a guest appearance after hearing her perform “umqombothi” on an earlier show.
Overall, it was an incredible show. All the artists performed with excellent precision. Princess offered a show-stopping performance that got people out of their seats, dancing and clapping.
In the end, there can only be one winner, and the winner is… Thabo M Ndlovu!
The announcement saw him fall to his knees in disbelief, with tears of joy in his eyes. He thanked the crowd and all those watching at home for their support and went on to put on a stellar performance of his song, “Islungu.”
