SOA Family consists of musicians, producers, and vocalists under the Soa Mattrix brand and they have released their 1st single titled ‘Lindishonele’.
SOA Family has a highly anticipated album expected at the end of November 2023 and ‘Lindishonele’ is the first song from this mammoth 31 track album.
‘Lindishonele’ features lead vocals by singer-songwriter and musician Cnethemba Gonelo, Cne was born and bred in the East Rand of Johannesburg and her journey growing up sparked her love for music as she was surrounded by people who sang.
Both her parents are pastors of a local church thus making music an intricate part of her journey. In grade 10 of her schooling years, Cnethemba decided that she would pursue music when her older brother introduced her to a recording studio.
This was a turning point in her life as it became the launch pad to her music career. In direct translation, ‘Lindishonele’ means the sun going down. The song is about dealing with the downs of life.
According to Cnethemba: “You could randomly have a summer day but feel winter in it because of how bad a situation is in life, with grief you have different stages & it’s hard to accept”.
Cne shares that she wrote the song for her late sister who passed away in 2016 and she finds it easier to deal with the loss through music.
The lyrics of the song include questions and words of comfort that Cnethemba expresses to her late sister.
In ‘Lindishonele’, Cne repeatedly asks her sister if she could grab one more moment with her in the physical world.
Apart from SOA himself, the song also features singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and music composer, Sir Trill, SOA Family producer Frank Mabeat and Happy Jazzman.
