The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards proudly celebrated South Africa’s multi-talented super star, the late rapper Kiernan Forbes, best known as ‘AKA’, by awarding him the prestigious Global Visionary Award.
To honour their son’s hard work, AKA’s parents, Lynn and Tony Forbes, took the stage to accept the award on behalf of their beloved son. They expressed their gratitude to the BET Hip Hop Awards and shared their heartfelt thoughts on Kiernan’s legacy.
Proud of her son’s accomplishment, AKA’s mother stated, “This is a bittersweet moment for us as a family. Kiernan lived for music and dedicated himself to creating a legacy that has transcended his time with us.” She further added , “He often proved he was ahead of his years in music creation and his predictions for the African music industry.”
Expressing their gratitude , Lynn and Tony Forbes thanked BET for granting this dignitary honour to Kiernan.
It is evident that Kiernan’s daughter, Kairo Forbes will witness her father’s legacy continue to live on. His legacy will also continue to elevate the South African music industry, bringing it to new heights. This recognition fills the entire country with utmost pride.
