KÖNI, the Albanian-born, Italy-based producer, continues to blend his Balkan heritage with global musical experiences in his latest EP, Wachanare. Partnering with the acclaimed Kenyan Afro-house vocalist Idd Aziz, this EP, released through Paradise Sound System, is a captivating journey through diverse rhythms and cultures. The original single, Wachanare, dropped on July 19, 2024, setting the stage for a series of remixes by top-tier producers, including the vibrant Candy Man remix, which landed on August 9, 2024. The full EP is slated for release on August 23, promising a sonic adventure like no other.
Idd Aziz, a towering figure in the electronic music world, brings his Afro House roots, rich with Mijikenda and Kiswahili influences, to the forefront of this collaboration. With a career that has seen him perform on international stages since he was 15 and now boasting over half a million monthly Spotify listeners, Aziz’s artistry shines through in Wachanare. The duo’s goal is clear: to provide a soulful, rhythmic soundtrack that encapsulates their shared musical journey, with the EP’s lead single offering a glimpse into this extraordinary fusion.
Wachanare transcends the boundaries of Afro House, moving into melodic and soothing territories that are both familiar and new. KÖNI and Idd Aziz’s combined talents create a soundscape that resonates deeply, promising an unforgettable experience for listeners.
The EP’s second release, a remix by Candy Man, infuses Afro-tech elements with a dominating groove, primed to take over dance floors. South African producer DJ Couza adds his signature soulful touch to the mix, enriching the EP with his unique Afro-Tech sound. This multicultural project is further amplified by the Arcade Saiyans, a dynamic duo representing Europe, Latin America, and North America. Their remix introduces vibrant street and nightlife energy, adding layers of rhythm and harmony that reflect the diverse influences at play.
KÖNI describes the EP as “more than just a collection of songs; it’s a celebration of culture and a shared passion for breaking genre boundaries.” He adds, “This EP is a testament to our belief that music should touch the soul and connect people across continents.”
From Africa to Europe and the Americas, Wachanare is an immersive musical experience that weaves together unique rhythms and cultural influences. The EP promises to leave a lasting impact on listeners, marking a significant moment in the global music landscape.
