The two-day TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Player Auction concluded, ringing in record revenues at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, a member of India’s historic 2024 ICC T20 World Cup-winning team, was picked by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a remarkable INR 27 Crore, making him the most expensive player in the history of the TATA IPL Auction. He surpassed Shreyas Iyer, who joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) for an impressive INR 26.75 Crore.
Thirteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, brought on board by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 1.1 Crore, became the youngest cricketer ever selected by an IPL franchise.
In total, the 10 franchises acquired 182 players, including 62 overseas players, and utilised as many as 8 Right To Match cards, spending INR INR 639 Crore in total. This auction provided players with the opportunity to compete alongside some of the finest talents in the game.
