ZULO’s latest music video, “Smaak To Love (Lamza)”, has redefined the idea of “bedroom performance” in a visually captivating way. The video begins with ZULO and his band magically appearing in the middle of his crush’s bedroom, all sparked by a simple Instagram follow-back.
In this dream-like, intimate setting, ZULO serenades his crush with soulful passion, creating a connection that feels almost surreal. The track, a perfect fusion of hip-hop, afrobeats, R&B, and a hint of amapiano, evokes the smooth and lush vibes of a classic ‘70s slow jam but with a distinctly modern South African flavor.
Adding to the playful energy of the video, comedian Dimpie Dimpopo makes a surprise appearance playing the glockenspiel, while rapper Dali Danger adds star power with a memorable cameo.
“I just wanted to create something cute and wholesome,” says ZULO, reflecting on the video. “Something that’ll keep you smiling all the way through.”
“Smaak To Love (Lamza)” sets the perfect tone for the upcoming summer, blending romance, groove, and style to make December a month to remember.
ZULO has been on an impressive streak of single releases, building momentum over the past year. It all started with “Adawise”, a track that sparked lively social media discussions, with many fans drawing comparisons to the late AKA for ZULO’s authenticity and cultural representation. This was followed by the hit “JOL” featuring Flow Jones Jr., and the ambitious “Garden”, positioning ZULO as one of South Africa’s most exciting and dynamic voices in hip-hop.
